News

August 2009, A Click for the Forest crew is expanding!

We now welcome five new members, who will contribute in different areas of the foundation. This reorganization is important in the aims to run the foundation efficient and successfully, and to be able to save the old growth forests.

Two people of our new team; Hanna Olovson and Åsa Berg, will be in charge of costumer services and handle all orders from our webshop.
Sofia Arvidsson, Caroline Forsström and Cecilia Rodhe will work with information and the forums we use; Facebook, our newsletter and this website.

A Click for the Forest is founded by Jenny Strand and Ann Rask who is the committee along with Anna-Karin Grennvall. Ann also handles things concerning forests, as well as the main contact with our sponsors. Jenny is in charge of the press and webdesign. Anna-karin takes care of the economy and adminstration.

Other members of the staff is Fanny Bergström who is the campaignleader and also runs the marketing. Paulina Niedswiecka, who has worked a lot in marketing, will now work specificly with events.

A Click for the Forest met under an intense weekend in Luleå in the north of Sweden in July. We discussed our new positions with a main focus on the foundation and it´s future. This meeting was very helpful for our motivation and there were 10 girls that left Luleå with new insights and visions about the hard, yet fun, and important work we now have to maintain.

We hope you all want to join us as we take A Click for the Forest a step further!

August 2009, Problems corrected

The last week, an incorrect message has appeared after each click. If you make more than one click a day, you get a reminding message about this. This message has unfortunately appeared even though only one click has been made. All the clicks have been registered as usual, and now the problem is corrected. We apologize for the technical problems.

13 March 2009, Verle forest is saved!

Today Ale Council voted in favour to join a unique partnership between A Click for the Forest, Västkuststiftelsen (a Government foundation) and the Swedish EPA. A partnership which will save Verle forest.

Ale Council will contribute with approximatelly 1 million SEK, A Click for the Forest with approximatelly 2.4 Million SEK, Västkuststiftelsen (a Government foundation) with approxiamatelly 1 million SEK and the Swedish EPA approximatelly 1.9 Million SEK. Fältbiologerna, a swedish youth organisation is giving Ale Council and Västkuststiftelsen 400 000 SEK towards the purshase.

This is such fantastic news. We have been working very long on this partnership as well as on raising enough money to save Verle forest. We would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to all the people and organisation who has made this possible. Togheter we have made a big difference creating posivite change.

February 2009, Unique partnership possible to save Verle forest

Since autumn last year, A Click for the Forest has been negotiating with Ale Council, the Swedish EPA and Västkuststiftelsen (a Government foundation) regarding working together to finance the purshase of Verle forest. Västkuststiftelsen and the Swedish EPA have both agreed and joined the partnership.

Ale Council took up the issue at its last council meeting but unfortunately the issue was undecided by the voting then. A new meeting and vote will be held on 13th March. We are hopeful that Verle forest will be saved as it looks quite promising that the Council vote on 13th March will be favourable.

So please continue to donate generously as we still need all the contributions and support that we can get to save this amazing forest. Here is your chance to give something back to this precious living planet that has nurtured us all for so long.

September 2008, The Forest map now available to private people

An interactive map of Verles old growth forest illustrates the amount of money collected and by who! Gradually the map will be marked and filled up as we get closer to our purpose; that every hectare of Verles old growth forest is preserved for ever after! A Click for the Forest is the only organisation in the world that can offer this NEW innovative way of preserving forest!

Now the Forest map is also available for private people. One square on the Forest map is equivalent to 281 square metres and costs 266 EUR. YOUR name will be seen above the area that you have saved.

July 2008, EUR€30 000 in contribution from EOG

On Friday, the 18:th of July, A Click for the Forest received EUR€30 000 in contribution from the international organisation EOG (European Outdoor Group) - Association for Conservation.

The Association aims to fund projects that protect threatened wild areas for their habitat and recreational value. The projects must focus on specific issues and root causes, involving direct citizen action, that eventually build public involvement, consensus and support.

Motivation: A Click for the Forest was started by a group of people who felt passionately that Sweden’s indigenous forest needed better protection. The current project is aimed at saving an area of ancient woodland called the Verle Forest which is located approximately 50 kilometres North East of Gothenburg. This forest is threatened by logging and a maximum amount of EUR€30,000 has been awarded to contribute towards the EUR€533,000 needed to save the forest.

July 2008, Down-to-Earth art generates EUR€1 031

A Swedish art exhibition called ”Terra” (Latin for “Earth”) was completed the 19:th of July. The revenues from the event, EUR€1 031, goes straight to A Click for the Forest! This amount of money is equivalent to four squares on our new Forest map, which means that 1125,2 m2 of ancient forest of Verle now can be saved by us.

26 artists, both Swedish and international, took part in the happening with a diverse collection of close-to-nature-type of works and the initiator to the art exhibition was Modesty Jackie Sofronenkoff. She was also the woman behind the interactive piece of art ”Terra nostra” – a creation in the form of a planet, on which the visitors of the art exhibition actively could contribute to make a better world by “planting” tiny trees.
